The HCC Church & Society Team began with the purpose of finding ways to live our faith through our actions in our local and greater community. Since 1990, HCC Church & Society Team activities have included interfaith education and friendship gatherings, support for educational and medical programs for Rwandan orphans, funding and installing solar panels on the church roof in 2017 (before the Green Team branched off from Church & Society), hosting an HCC welcome booth at annual state and local Pride events, and forming the Open and Affirming Task Force, which in 2017 resulted in HCC’s Open & Affirming Covenant and our official designation as a UCC Open and Affirming Congregation welcoming all people.

The monthly Church & Society Team potluck dinner meetings are 6:30-9:30 p.m. on the first Friday of every month (except June, July, August, and December) at team leader Susan Turney’s home, which is four minutes from HCC. Usually we have dinner and socialize until about 8:00, when we start with the agenda. We adjourn sometime around 9:15-9:30.

If you plan to come, please contact the church office, because having a count is helpful. Please bring a dish to share for 8-12 people. Plates, glasses, cups, silverware, and hot and cold beverages are provided.

You’re welcome to come and check out a meeting—no long-term commitment necessary. We’re looking forward to hearing your ideas!
